The Hang Originated in Bern Switzerland in the year 2000 and was Magically crafted by Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer OF THE PANArt Company.
After many years of research into the steel pan and other instruments the "Hang Hang" was born. The Hang in the bern dialect means "Hand", as the
instrument is predominantly played with the hands. Each Hang Hang are painstaking crafted by hand and only two Hang are produced each day over
a few months period, as they spend many months each year researching the progression of the instrument, everything from the metals, the nitriding
process that gives it its black color and the physics surrounding musical acoustics. The Hang Pan as it commonly known are very difficult to get hold of
as in a very short space of time they have captivated all that have heard this magical musical instrument and as they are all made by hand only a few people
are able to get hold of them as the waiting list is over two years long now. To get hold of a Hang Hang, you have to send a letter to bern and wait for a reply
on a date given by them to go and visit them at there PANart Studio. The cost of a new Hang is somewhere around the 1200 euros mark. The Hang you can
hear on this website is one of the "First Generation" models and has still managed to keep its musical tuning over the last four years. Many people refer to this
instrument as a "Hang Drum" But it really is a Hang Pan, however many people use Hang drum as an ease of reference to search for this instrument online.
